A CULTURAL IMMERSION
iLaCatrina’s Speaker Series offers a rich educational experience that explores the meaning, history, and modern relevance of Día de Muertos. These live presentations are designed to inform, engage, and inspire diverse audiences by weaving together academic knowledge, personal storytelling, and powerful visual presence.
Led by cultural ambassador Araminta Romero, each session presents a journey through the origins of the tradition, from its pre-Hispanic foundations to its contemporary expressions across Mexico and beyond. The presentation covers topics such as indigenous ritual practices, colonial influence, regional variations, and the growing impact of Día de Muertos in global culture.
What makes this series uniquely impactful is the presence of the speaker herself. Araminta appears dressed as a Catrina, embodying the very symbol she teaches. This creates an immediate visual connection and brings the subject matter to life, blending lecture with living art. The result is an experience that feels both educational and emotionally resonant.
Perfect for schools, universities, museums, libraries, and cultural institutions, the Speaker Series is adaptable to different age groups, audience sizes, and levels of familiarity with the tradition.
