LA DOÑA (MARIA FELIX)

LA DOÑA honors María Félix, the legendary beauty whose strength and elegance defined Mexico’s Golden Age of Cinema.

Part of our Las Doñas Collection, LA DOÑA is a Catrina icon honoring María Félix, the legendary actress of Mexico’s Golden Age of Cinema. Celebrated for her beauty, strength, and fearless independence, she became an enduring symbol of female empowerment across Latin America.

Her last husband, French banker Alex Berger, played a decisive role in financing Mexico City’s first Metro system. Félix often said, “The wonderful subway that Mexico City has is mine; my husband gave it to me,” a testament to his vision and their shared legacy.

After Berger’s passing, María Félix entered a period of deep mourning. Overnight she abandoned cigarettes and embraced cigars, transforming them into a new personal signature and a tribute to his memory.

This tribute to LA DOÑA draws inspiration from her film La Mujer de Todos and her iconic cigar, embodying the elegance, confidence, and determination that continue to inspire generations.
