This unique concept combines the elegant, skeletal figure of La Catrina, a symbol of Día de Muertos that celebrates life and death, with the colorful, fantastical designs of Alebrijes, the traditional spirit animals originating from Mexican folk art.

Catrina Alebrije was created to pay homage to the alebrijes often seen in modern-day ofrendas, honoring the spirits and traditions that live on.

In Zapotec culture, alebrijes are vibrant spirit guides, linking the spirit world to ours. They help us find our true path, connecting with our deepest selves and guiding us through life’s journey. Alebrijes are part of the 20-day cycle of the Zapotec calendar, representing our shared imaginary realm and spiritual essence.

Crafted from copal wood and painted in bright, intricate colors, each alebrije is a unique masterpiece. With whimsical features like horns, wings, and human bodies, no two are alike.
