Every spring, San Antonio transforms into a city of color, tradition, music, and celebration during one of the nation’s most unique cultural festivals: Fiesta San Antonio. What began in 1891 as a floral parade to honor the memory of the Battles of the Alamo and San Jacinto has grown into an extraordinary citywide tradition with more than 100 events, millions of attendees, and a spirit unlike anywhere else in the United States. Yet beyond the parades, medals, and celebration lies one of Fiesta’s most iconic traditions: its royal pageantry.
For generations, Fiesta royalty has represented the heart of San Antonio’s civic and cultural identity. Each crown carries a story, a purpose, and a commitment to service. Through school visits, charitable appearances, cultural celebrations, and public events, Fiesta royalty serves as ambassadors of the city, representing heritage, philanthropy, and community spirit throughout the season and beyond.
Today, Fiesta San Antonio recognizes nine Official Fiesta Royalty members, each supported by an organization dedicated to charitable and civic impact. These include the celebrated Queen of the Order of the Alamo, known for her elaborate hand embroidered gowns and historic coronation traditions; King Antonio, who presides over the Texas Cavaliers River Parade; Rey Feo, a beloved symbol of philanthropy and scholarship; Miss Fiesta San Antonio; La Reina de la Feria de las Flores; Fiesta Teen Queen; Miss San Antonio; the Queen of Soul, honoring African American leadership and cultural contributions; and the Charro Queen, who celebrates Mexican equestrian traditions and escaramuza heritage deeply rooted in San Antonio’s cultural identity.
Yet Fiesta pageantry extends far beyond crowns alone. Grand coronations, duchesses, elaborate courts, military traditions, escaramuza riders, embroidered gowns, capes, medals, and ceremonial presentations all contribute to the visual spectacle that makes Fiesta uniquely San Antonio. The city becomes a living stage where history, service, and celebration come together through generations of tradition. The famed courts of the Order of the Alamo, with their princesses and duchesses, remain among the most recognizable symbols of Fiesta’s regal legacy.
It is this extraordinary world of pageantry that inspired iLaCatrina®’s 2026 Fiesta icon: Fiesta Reina Catrina.
