SATURDAY, SEPT. 13 | THE SHOPS AT LA CANTERA

The Shops at La Cantera celebrated an unforgettable family friendly day honoring its twentieth anniversary in style, paired with a vibrant tribute to Hispanic Heritage Month on Saturday, September 13, 2025.

The celebration marked two decades of The Shops at La Cantera and highlighted its recent recognition as the number one shopping center in the United States by USA TODAY 10Best Readers Choice Awards, followed by the unveiling of the new Catrina Cantera, created to honor San Antonio and The Shops at La Cantera by blending cultural tradition with local pride.

iLaCatrina proudly presented an exclusive showcase of Hispanic Heritage Catrinas, each personifying a symbol of Mexican pride and history, including the colors of La Bandera Mexicana, Esperanza, Independencia, and Dolores. These artistic tributes honored the spirit and resilience of heritage and unity.

The iLaCatrina Living Heritage presentation featured Azalia Arredondo and Nitza Valdez, contestants from the Telemundo reality show Miss Universe Latina, and NYFW high fashion model Ana de Corbal, embodying the Mexican flag, Esperanza, Independencia, and Dolores. Catrina Cantera was brought to life by April Rodriguez, Miss Grand USA fifth runner up and 2023 Miss Texas Latina.

The cultural program also included special performances by Mariachi Vargas of San Antonio and tenor Kevin Arratia, along with an appearance by Reina Escaramuza Arlet Landero of the San Antonio Charros Association representing Catrina Escaramuza, adding authentic regional music and tradition to the celebration.
