NEW ICONS

Catrina Dolores symbolizes the color red in the Mexican flag—representing blood, bravery, and the sacrifice behind Mexico’s fight for independence. She carries a replica of the Campana de Dolores, used by Miguel Hidalgo to ignite the movement for freedom, along with two historical flags: the Cruz de Borgoña (1811-1821), flown by royalist forces from Córdova, Orizaba, and Jalapa, and the Bandera del Batallón de Tres Villas (1823–1855)—the first known flag to feature the eagle without a crown, reflecting the early vision of a sovereign republic.

Fiesta Catrina captures the essence of that tradition. Her full circle skirt evokes the graceful movements of folkloric dance, symbolizing the rhythm and resilience of Mexican culture. Crafted from layers of colorful organza, the ensemble mirrors the vibrant wreaths that adorn San Antonio’s doors during Fiesta season—radiating joy, pride, and cultural unity.
